Welcome to the bible study on the Book of Job. This post and group is closed to participants so feel free to post your reactions to your readings and our discussions. No one but I and other class members will see them. The 1st session will take place on Wednesday evening, October 1 at 6:00. We will look at the book of Job as a whole - where did this book come from? Who wrote it? What is it trying to say? We will also look at the figure of Job. Who was he? In preparation I ask that you read at least the first 2 chapters of the book of Job. You may choose whichever bible translation you prefer. Also, the Frost book, "The Color of Night" is available for you to pick up at church. Please read pages 12 to 24 and look over the questions on page 104.
We have 5 sessions to look and I hope that our discussions and class work will lead us from one session to the next. If you have time you might try reading straight through the book of Job. I will be emailing you an outline of the book to aid in this. If you do this - I would suggest that in this reading you skip from the end of chapter 31 directly to chapter 38. In other words skip the speech of Elihu. We will talk about this.
I look forward to entering into this study with you all. May God grant us wisdom and understanding and him His Holy word provide comfort and wisdom to us. In Christ's name....Amen+
